Language, Culture and Religion: GRICO Language as a Vital Element in Cross Border Religious and Cultural Heritage

The overall objective of LA.CULTU.RE is the promotion of religious tourism and Greek-Italian cultural heritage via endorsement of "Griko" - a language also used in a well known religious festivity in the Italian side: the "Passion Chants" - and the improvement of ecclesiastic monuments as a religious pole attraction in the Greek side. The sub-objectives of the project on the other hand comprise:- Support to cultural sustainable development via idiomatic language promotion and religious cultural activities.- Protection and preservation of the cultural heritage as expressed through the renovated ecclesiastic structures.- Increase in the employment of the touristic and educational sector.- Facilitate the economic recovery of Grecia Salentina in Southern Italy and the Region of Epirus in Greece via the promotion of religious tourism.
