Laïcité et Citoyenneté en Prison (Education in prison for CITIzenship VALues)

The teaching of civic values is necessary as a means of preserving a social life in prison based on respect and an integral part of the educational values for a further reintegration into society. In addition, the recent events related to violent acts of extremism in an international context reinforce its interest.The prison which houses a fragile public, vulnerable, often young is a place of radicalization in which the educative process can provide a meaningful answer. In this educational process, they contribute to the objective of reintegration and participate so to fight against recidivism.The project is aimed at detainees (Male / Female - Minors / Adults) incarcerated for longer or shorter periods. Priority will be given to younger prisoners least qualified and / or inmates identified as "at risk" and in search of deviant form as protection (eg. Networks of influence, "siren song "...).Through this project, it is to give meaning to the concept of education for citizenship by involving all stakeholders in this process in prison (prison staff, therapists and nurses, teachers / trainers, religious actors, social workers, counselors for integration, volunteers,...).Activities and experiments will be carried out by each of the partners in educational sessions about:- the exercise of citizenship- the place of the person in a state of law- equality and discrimination between individuals- moral and civic issues of the information society (media, social networks).All disciplines (history, geography, philosophy, foreign languages, sport) may be concerned with this approach and invest in the development of innovative pedagogies.The impact of the project must be implemented at European level but also national, regional and local ones. It will be measured through the implementation of different actions:- information (to all interlocutors from prisons involved in our consortium)- awareness at all levels through the operationalization of various pedagogical actions- dissemination (regional symposium, ending conferences)- communication (collaboration with medias)Two major productions will be performed:1- A state of the art made from own educational activities to the acquisition of citizenship values and engaged in penal institutions involved in the partnership will allow the first analysis: * interesting practices to reinvolve * obstacles to identify then overcome * obstacles to avoid.2 - From a base derived from the state of the art, a pedagogical toolbox ready to use with teaching sessions (for a total of 54 hours) around civic values will be designed in the languages of the partnership (including one single national part with a collective European one) and then made available to all stakeholders of the prison.To participate in the educational activity of acquiring citizenship values by detainees (registration, attendance) will assess the interest which should result in a decrease of asocial behaviors (for ex. France, lower incident reporting,...).
