ladybizIT: Women Entrepreneurship on the verge of ICT
Start date: Dec 1, 2011,

Women entrepreneurship is facilitated by the familiarity and daily use of ICT. Moreover, these tools empower women to pursue a career as entrepreneurs while minimizing the barriers that limit equal entrepreneurial participation in an open market. Women constitute 30% of EU entrepreneurs and often face greater difficulties than men in starting up a business. The EC puts great effort to support women entrepreneurship by creating the appropriate conditions to improve the circumstances of women entrepreneurs, such as balancing family and professional life. Especially during the current economic crisis, women must be encouraged to launch their own businesses and spotlight trends on their role in sustainable economic recovery. Clearly, an important enabler to achieving a higher rate of women entrepreneurs is the access and use of ICT.The main objective of the project “ladybizIT: Women Entrepreneurship on the verge of ICT” is to build up a solution-focused dialogue, through a set of interlinked and complementary dissemination actions (roundtables to build up dialogue, a call of papers to at the issue, an online campaign and promotional material to disseminate the project outcomes) that will prepare and lead into the organisation of a European Conference and Show Case with the ultimate aim to present in a scientific and ‘catchy’ way the results of 12 European projects, mostly LLP, that focus on women entrepreneurship and how ICT facilitates and fosters women entrepreneurship. Thus, the project will contribute to provide new demands and directions that will benefit women in the pursuit of entrepreneurship while engaging policy makers, VET actors and other stakeholders at national and European level; a set of policy recommendations will be also drafted to target policy makers. The main target audience includes women seeking entrepreneurship; Women’s associations; Women entrepreneurs; Entrepreneurship institutes; VET institutions; policy makers; and Social partners.
