Within the framework of their initial training, students have professional training courses where they learn catering techniques in French and English classes. These classes are centered on general skills of foreign language ability, but also on skills applied to the speciality of the diploma. For the students registered " European section ", the period of training abroad is compulsory. It is prepared by language teachers , all the logistic part is managed by them too, what enables the students to go abroad in a serene way without being bothered by the financial and administrative side. Strengthened language courses are proposed, they are done by the foreign language assistant. The project will allow the pupils to put into practice their knowledge and skills abroad. They will use English in authentic situations and this experience will be very useful during their exams because students have to prepare oral tests in English. Thus, this project has a double impact: on a professional level, students are confronted with new professional practices, their knowledge is strengthened; on a linguistic level, the approach of English through professional practices enables to give a new direction to the language teaching. According to our past experience, students generally improve their knowledge, when they are back to school, they more often participate in class and make fewer mistakes, they speak more, which is essential for a foreign language. The fact of being able to make a mobility abroad will re-motivate our students who often arrive with a negative image because learning a language is only associated with work in classes. The organization of the European section and the accent put on languages will plunge them into the bath of professional communication. These periods of training abroad added to those in France will allow us to give our students the additional weapons to face the working world being more confident. Our students, who often have financial grants will have an incomparable asset to offer during their job searches in a company where speaking a foreign language became essential. Furthermore, we have already participated in several projects and we wish to keep on working with the companies we have already sent students to.
