Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Context: VLC College and Hoornbeeck College belongs to SORG foundation with 9000 students and 750 teachers. The new construction of the VLC in Barneveld has an optimal ICT education infrastructure, with a large number of multitouch DViT 800 Smart Interactive Whiteboard, some education learning centres, an electronic learning environment, with educational Web-based language learning content and devices in laptopcarts. Methodology: Based on the Four-in-Balance principles of Kennisnet and Tpack model there is the need for IWB educational innovation. First through the train-the trainer-principle applied in modern foreign language teaching. Goal: The project includes improving the quality of education in the modern foreign languages through the use of interactieve Smartboards. The target is to create an interactive and integral study opportunity for pupils with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device and ELO (Virtual Electronic Learning Environment) with high tech webbased language learning materials like speech recognition technology and speech analysis for pronouncation and fluency. Also to develop trainingfacilities for the implementation of an interactive whiteboard program. This is provided by the SmartVET trainingcourses in the University of Valencia. The project has 3 stages: a preparatory phase in 2014 and implementation phase in 2015 and an evaluation in 2016. Participants and profile: The trailBlazer/scout of the Van Lodenstein college goes into part 2 of the summercourse in July 2014: "Preparing to be a trainer/coach to promote the effective use of interactive whiteboards in Education. ' and uses the train -the- trainer concept. Activities: With the acquired knowledge, an internal training programme is provided for 6 keyteachers, which passed the knowledge of the trainingcourse out to the three Van Lodenstein teams. Next, there is a IWB knowledge dissemination at a large part of the team of teachers. On the basis of a intern voucher program, three modern European language learning teachers will be recruited and will go in July 2015 with the trailblazer to the Itilt post-graduate course 4: "Using Interactive whiteboards in Language Education". This is the application of the interactive whiteboard expertise specific to the modern foreign languages. The certified SmartVET/Itilt teachers working through the train-the- trainers concept spread their knowledge to their teams and to the overall organisation. Upon successful evaluation the interactive whiteboard also spreads over the branches of the van Lodenstein College in Amersfoort, Hoevelaken and Kesteren and on branches of the Hoornbeek.
