The ERASMUS+ mobility project in the framework of Key Action 1 titled ”Cultural education in a diverse society. Active learning from European diversity“ has been submitted by MUSIS, the Styrian Museum Organisation in a consortium with 9 other bodies in the field of cultural heritage. MUSIS acts as applicant due to its experience and involves all in all 21 participants coming from the own team and nine other institutions within the consortium. Within the Austrian education landscape museums and many entities in the field of cultural heritage are still underestimated as partners offering informal and non-formal learning opportunities. MUSIS supports and emphasizes cultural learning in museums since its foundation in 1991. Education represents a core user-oriented responsibility with sustainable impact in the surrounding society. Museums reflect a huge spectrum of intangible contents and fields of action and create – using their special strength of originality and tangibility - a universal view on the cultural history and development of our heritage and present. They provide the perfect supplement to traditional offers in all fields of lifelong learning. The consortium’s special concern is international benchmarking and shaping of own services according to best practices in the European Union aiming for quality development and visibility. The partners are sensible of the importance of a broad perspective and networks in order to provide always highest standards in education. The structure of the consortium reflects the plurality of cultural cooperation and education in our country: MUSIS, the Diocesan Museum of Graz as well as Prenn.Punkt count among the leading providers of consultancy and further training of multipliers in the sector of arts, heritage and museums in Austria. Steirischer Herbst is leadingly in charge of concepts and mediation of contemporary art music and culture. GrazMuseum, the Diocesan Museum of Graz, the ”Feuerwehrmuseum“ - Styrian Museum of the Fire Brigades, the ”Südbahnmuseum“ – Museum of the Southern Railway, the City Museum Bruderladenhaus, the Museum of Archaeology in Ratschendorf count among the most active Styrian institutions of mediation / education / learning in the field of arts, culture and social history involving the target groups. EchoPhysics faces the special challenge of mediation in the field of physics to all groups of age and society.During the project period between 1st June 2016 and 31st May 2017, six education managers and trainers as well as 15 educators and mediators will gain competences and special expertise within the scope of conferences, trainings and via job shadowing in peer institutions. They all will expand their range of ideas, strategies and methods in order to shape and develop the Austrian landscape of cultural education in terms of successful adult learning. The consortium’s primary objective is the implementation and use of innovative ideas, methods and contents in their own work field. One focus of the majority is easy accessibility and diversity orientation in their programs, made for all generations and backgrounds. They strive to increase quality and learning services in cultural heritage. The multipliers will broaden and modify their training and advisory activities and make them more accessible. In the museums, the acquired skills, experiences and thoughts will enable to provide innovative learning concepts and activities in order to widen the outreach. By this means the impact on real and potential target groups will become clear.
