Prywatne Centrum Kształcenia Kadr is an educational establishment that have been working for 16 years. It focuses on different zones: PCKK’s Teacher Training Centre (Centrum Doskonalenia Nauczycieli PCKK), PCKK’s Languages Learning Centre (Centrum Językowe PCKK), PCKK’s Continuing Education Institution (Placówka Kształcenia Ustawicznego PCKK), and Secondary School for Adults that has public school rights. We have been cooperating with European organizations in a zone of non-formal education for some years now. We realized few projects inter alia as part of Leonardo da Vinci and Grundtvig Programme, where our workshops training methods and trainers’ experience were highly rated. Because of this, Prywatne Centrum Kształcenia Kadr, in its European development plans, provided preparing and organizing international courses for teachers. It was connected with language improvement of PCKK’s staff, who will take care of getting new partners and become active participants in projects.
This is why the main aim of our project was to increase language competences of PCKK’s staff (teachers, trainers, administrative employees) by participating in intensive English language courses provided in England. The courses were taken by both PCKK’s management employees (PCKK’s managing director, Secondary School for Adults’ principal, and projects’ manager) and trainers that have been working with PCKK for years. These courses improved the language speaking level. It allowed to prepare English course for teachers “How to help adult students achieve success” and also few trainings for Turkish teachers based on the theme “How to work with Special Educational Needs students?”. These trainings were prepared for Turkish partner, which submitted a project application in its NA.
The second aim of the project was to acquire knowledge about educational methods. These methods can not only increase adults’ educational activity, but also make the students learn in different forms of lifelong learning. Two PCKK’s employees visited Valkeakoski Lifelong Learning Centre in Finland and took a job shadowing action. During the visit, PCKK’s managing director and one of the trainers got to know about the work organization of the institution which aims for personal, intellectual and cultural development. They also got access to activation and involvement methods that improve adults’ self-growth. Valkeakoski has been successfully using these methods for years.
Additional asset of such mobility was the opportunity to look at the institution which has a large experience in realizing international projects.
Due to the project’s realization, PCKK will be able to organize courses and trainings in English language, get new partners in order to exchange experiences and good practices, and participation in European educational activities (seminars, study visits, conferences).
