Kreativní učitel - kreativní žáci
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Creative teacher - creative students" was focused on Creative Writing which had become a new subject at our school (so far, it concerns the school branches of Book-sellers’ and Publishers’ Business, and Informational Services). These days, we consider Creative Writing, which supports creativity in general and also enhances verbal expression, as a key subject in the process of improving the level of education at our school. That is the reason why this project was valuable for the school’s long-term strategy. Since the teachers of Creative Writing do not have an opportunity to learn its didactics in any advanced teachers' courses at universities in the Czech Republic, we wanted to provide them with new professional experience at educative courses abroad, where Creative Writing education had had a longer tradition. The participants deliberately took part in different courses due to the other subjects which they teach and also to gain as much experience as possible and share it afterwards. Apart from the planned courses, we have also done one job-shadowing in a school in Bratislava where participant Jan Pytel watched the approach of Slovak colleagues towards Creative Writing teaching. Three teachers, who had all proved to be reliable and responsible with a positive attitude towards their jobs and willing to improve their qualifications, were appointed to participate in the project. Back home from the courses, the participants all shared gained experience and approved it in their lessons. Based on gained and shared experience, they have created teaching and learning materials which are divided in two parts. The authors of the first one are Jan Pytel and Filip Horak who prepared a set of activities suitable for Creative Writing as well as for other subjects of the humanities. The other part, created by Pavlina Vockova, is suitable for English lessons at B1 level – the tasks are based on the silent film Cesta that is contained in the materials. On the 8th June 2016, the participants organised a workshop where they introduced the materials to their colleagues and volunteers from other schools and institutions. This workshop contributed to higher popularity of Creative Writing as a school subject and showed how to use it in other subjects, too. The workshop also helped to spread the impact of the project beyond the institution of our school, and, for a big interest, will be repeated on the 1st September 2016. Based on the project, the participants have started with the revision of the curriculum of the subject Creative Writing and they are also going to run workshops for the public. The project itself showed some possible ways that we could take in the future; therefore it is going to be followed by a project focused on drama activities which are related to Creative Writing.
