This project is a bilateral youth exchange will take place in the summer of 2015 in Gran Canaria. It will be for 7 days and involved groups of young people from Sweden and Spain. We will be a total of 44 participants aged 18 to 25 who participate in activities related to the topics "European conscience" and "Environment".
The objectives are to learn to be environmentally friendly, participating in activities with minimal or no impact on the environment (including a focus on sustainable tourism), focusing the attention of young people in outdoor activities and make them spend less time at home with a PC or on the Internet, show the young how to spend their free time actively doing various outdoor activities and sports, said some negative factors that affect sporting performance (alcohol, snuff), learn, although some workshops and share issues that are relevant to each country, such as climate change and alternative energy sources.
Achieve the objectives by working in mixed groups, there will be participatory workshops on themes of sustainability and nature. The youth exchange will provide the opportunity to use the local environment for the activities that generate no lasting effect of nature, like hiking and team sports, and intercultural nights and other planned activities will improve the understanding of other cultures within Europe.
Cross-cutting objectives of the project include:
- This project raises awareness of other cultures through which we view the particular situations in each country in different ways: citizenship and participation, energy, environmental protection, historical heritage and idiosyncrasies. Therefore, both the workshops and intercultural evenings and informal meetings we will have with participants from other countries make an aspect of this intercultural dimension.
- This project supports dialogue and intercultural encounters with other young people from different backgrounds and cultures as part of the activities are based on teamwork in small groups of mixed composition, where participants discuss every moment with intense exchange activities ideas and experiences and learn from each other. Even this intercultural sense will keep in the rooms and in each room will be represented each nation, leading to increased dialogue during informal moments (morning, afternoon, during dinner, etc.).
- This project promotes tolerance and understanding of diversity through activities where participants will be able to compare our values, culture, traditions and customs with those of other nations (intercultural evenings, working in mixed groups).
- The project shown here among us fosters a sense of European citizenship and helps us to understand the problems and issues common to all European environmental, social and cultural characteristics, as well as the need for a healthy lifestyle based on physical activity and sports, preferably in a natural environment.
- This project also reflects a common concern for European society, such as the fight against racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism. The drug abuse among young people so harmful. In that sense we understand that our actions are aimed at presenting and reflecting on our own values, our culture and traditions (eg, intercultural evenings) to create a space where young people understand and compare the differences and similarities of our peoples.
- The project's theme is linked to EU topics, such as global environmental problems (lack of energy, waste, global warming, the rights we have as citizens) and EU action in areas that affect young people, with particularized approach to a healthy lifestyle and education through sport and outdoor activities.
