PROJECT
FINISHED
Akaa Upper Secondary is a middle sized school in the region Pirkanmaa. Our school is keen on developing learning environments and teachers are active also in the international co-operation. The basic background in this project lies in the new curriculum and the european view on it. The other background is the developing of the working community and making the plan for sustainable development. Our school building had a complete renovation lately but recycling is still poorly organized. Working together strenghtens the feel of community. At the same time students will get more and better courses to choose, because we will offer a sustainable development course to them. In the same time teachers will develop their professional skills and their working abbilities will become better. All this means that our school has better chances to compete with other secondary schools from the students as the quality of the school gets better. Before and during the courses, teachers are encouraged to make european networks. All the partners make a project group, which will follow the project. They will also start to make the plan for sustainable development. This project is supposed to be a quick one, last course is in October/November 2016. The results (first environmental plan) will be taken in use in autumn 2017. Then it is made to be a wider sustainable development plan. Desemination of the results is effective in many ways, there are several schools in the same building and teachers work also in the primary and secondary schools. All the partners use social media in many ways. The local newspaper is interested in all the happenings in a small town. We have also KA2-project (Footprints across Europe) and it supports this planned project thematically and in dissemination.
