KNOCKING ON THE METHODS DOOR
Start date: Jun 30, 2016, End date: Jun 29, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Beginning with the needs expressed by the educational community, this project aims to contribute to improving the quality of education in our centre. That will be the basis to open up to Europe and develop a dynamic school, more related to the real context of ALL our students. There have been many changes in social and educational levels in recent years. These changes must be reflected in our classrooms, in the reality of children as future citizens of EUROPE and the world. The CEIP Graciano Atienza is in Villarrobledo (Albacete). It is a Public Kindergarden and Primary Education, a pioneer in the Plan of Multilingualism of Castilla - La Mancha in our town. Bilingual education is carried out as a global project in Kindergarden, learning English 210 minutes per week. In Primary, non-linguistic disciplines taught in the foreign language are Natural Science, Social Science and Arts and Crafts. Being a BILINGUAL CENTER, we must open ourselves to the new international reality, learning from cultural and social contexts of other countries which share the same need for change that we have. Our main goals are to drive improvement in our educational quality, promote innovation, use digital tools and new methodologies in the classroom (such as cooperative learning, project based task learning, CLIL or Gardner´s Multiple Intelligences), to create motivating activities and improve the development of our students. In addition, the profile that all participants of this project share is the importance we give to inclusion and attention to diversity. Thus, the experiences of other European centres will help us improve in the classroom. The formal training in structured courses serves to develop our teaching practice in the areas of CLIL, ICT and methodological innovations. When it comes to talking about our work in schools, the Polish institution offers us the opportunity to see how they work the development of Gardner ´s Multiple Intelligences in Kindergarden. In the rest of centres, the exchange of experiences will be both as host and visitor schools, so as to observe and implement the different methodologies used in each place. The possibility of travelling and receive other teachers enriches significantly the project, the European dimension increases and multiplies the points of view of teachers to proceed in their daily practice. Some activities are traditional and communicative games, tasks with the CLIL methodology, job shadowing sessions and teaching in the classroom. All this will encourage interaction between children of different countries, making English a real communicative and realistic tool for students, using new technologies as a window on the world, by which they look at other students who have the same needs, interests and concerns. This project will provide positive results, increasing our training and opening to Europe, gaining awareness and real connection to a European level. As linguistic level, the introduction of innovative practices will improve the quality of teaching-learning process. Besides, we will refine remarkable digital skills, both students and teachers, and the school will benefit from the internationally opening and new curricular proposals, integrating contents with a European dimension. In terms of impact, it highlights the idea of continuing the project in synergy with other projects ERASMUS + or eTwinnig. Therefore, we will develop an annual report on the centre, which will include all aspects of sustainability. We publish it through interviews on local television, conferences with other schools and digital media such as Facebook, YouTube or eTwininnig. In addition, there will also be an Erasmus corner in the centre, so that our educational community feels an essential part of the project. Moreover, this project will have transnational, interdisciplinary and cross-cutting benefits for all participants, developing cooperation between countries in different parts of Europe and getting to know other cultural and linguistic realities. It will improve our teamwork, exchanging new methodologies and sharing of curriculum materials, all in a national and international level, using tools that allow us to open ourselves to Europe, such as videoconferencing, eTwinning...We are excited to be part of this ERASMUS + project and promote, in our educational community, the dream and pleasure to work in a different way, towards inclusion and attention to diversity with a view to Europe, improving the quality of our bilingual project in a real way.
