Background:Valkeakoski City Library is offering facilities, collections and other services for different customer groups, including the needs of adult education, both adult education teachers and students. Because of the recent technological development, digitalisation and internationalization, the operating environment has changed substantially for libraries. The library must be able to develop its operation and activities in accordance with these requirements. Objectives: "The library as a modern learning environment, especially for the needs of adult education" project aims to take into account the development of library facilities, collections and services related to the needs of adult education. Activities: Through the project, the staff is trained in a variety of methods: training, job shadowing and conference attendance. Participants gain comptence about leadership, digitalization of services (netservices), customer orientation, marketing and internationalization. Participants: The project aim was to train six staff members working in the library. Results: The Eramus+ project was implemented in 2015-2016, which is synchronized with the library development project (timed for years 2018-2019). This allowed the use of training benefits to take into account of the library facilities, collection and services when the library project plan is planned and implemented. The project offered for the participants the opportunity to acquire new skills from European perspective and makes it possible to form new European Network in order to continue networking with other European libraries in the future. The project increased knowledge capital as the skills of the staff were increasing. This will be also reflected for the library customers as better services. The library customer surveys will be used to monitor that in the future.
