KCAT Art Centre is a unique project in Ireland. It is an inclusive centre for the Arts. Our main activities are a selection of full and part time visual art courses, a theatre company for actors with special needs and a studio for artists with special needs. The participants are all adults; the minimum age for the course is 16 years. We are actively open to any student, there is an average of 40 % of students with a disability or mental health issues in most groups. Throughout the year we are involved in many projects, mainly exhibitions and theatre productions. We have active connections locally, nationally and internationally (Scotland, Japan, Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium, USA, Sweden, etc.).
We are open for applications from all Programme Countries. KCAT has volunteer placement: the volunteer will focus on the visual art courses, the studio and the theatre groups. The volunteers will be participate in the courses and groups, help the students and artists, assist the tutors and through that learn a lot about art or theatre, people with a disability or mental health issue and themselves. Light maintenance and cleaning work are a small part of the work.
