Administration for Allocation of Social Welfare offers a range of different services within the field of social welfare. This project involves the outreach youth work, Fältgruppen City, who work with socially excluded young people aged 13-21 years old in the city area. The main purpose is to provide support based on the youth individual needs and to follow up the need of further support amongst the youth. The outreach youth work consists of two parts, the street based work in public areas and the individual follow up and support.
The outreach work in Bergen, Utekontakten, is also based in a city context and serve the purpose of establish contact and building relationship with vulnerable groups, as for example socially excluded youth. Their aim is to identify needs, motivate changes and support individuals if further efforts are required. Utekontakten also collect information about the target group such as conditions of life to further propose and/or coordinate appropriate actions. Furthermore, the department also runs a counseling service that offers advice and guidance for vulnerable youth. Utekontakten also offers mapping according to the so called HKH- method (Rapid assessment and response).
Utekontakten in Bergen is successful in their outreach work, including documentation systems and mapping methods, which Fältgruppen City want to develop in their work with disadvantaged youth.
The aim of the project is for Fältgruppen to visit Utekontakten in Bergen to gain better insight in how their outreach work is organised and what the effects are, with focus on the follow up work. Utekontakten has several years of experience which has given them a systematic approach that will be helpful for Fältgruppen to adapt, and moreover to make use of the methods for a more unerringly support linked to the target group. Furthermore, the project aims to get additional tools to evaluate whether the young people who are most in need get the support they need.
