The project "Professional career starts at school” was addressed to students of technical and vocational schools that constitute Centrum Kształcenia Zawodowego i Ustawicznego in Sosnowiec, Poland. 103 schoolgirls and schoolboys aged 17-20 participated in the project (including 6 special needs students with mild intellectual disability) who are trained for the following occupations: car mechanic, mechanical technician, mechatronics technician, forwarder technician, port and terminal technician, landscape architecture technician, construction technician, logistics technician, graphic technician, cooks and confectioners. The main goal of the project was to improve the quality of education by broadening students’ knowledge and overall professional skills. The project was realized from 1st January 2014 to 30th November 2015. The participants underwent two or four week trainings/internships in foreign companies or training institutions. The partners in the project were: North Com.spol. sro, I.S.S.Galilei-Artiglio, Berufsforderungwerke.V. des Bauindustrievebenes Berlin-Brandenburg e.V, Europa Direkte.V, LyceeProfessionel Isabelle Viviani, SistemaTurismo s.r.I, Sistema Practices s.I. All partners had extensive experience in carrying out the projects that is why the organization of work, accommodation or cultural programme was at a very high level. The participants were placed in the institutions which provided the professional training compatibile with their future careers. Mechanical technicians and mechatronics technicians were trained how to measure voltage and current intensity, design and make electric and integrated circuits. They were also introduced to modern technical solutions with regard to ecological norms used in engines and different materials to create conductors and PCL drivers. Forwarder technician and port/terminal technician trainees had a chance to work with professional computer software used in logistics and transport businesses. Students were acquainted with contemporary working methods, communication systems and customer service rules. Landscape architecture technicians and construction technician learnt basic DIN norm requirements in bricklaying. Cooks and confectioners mastered their skills preparing Italian and Spanish regional dishes with the concentration on proper food service and decoration. All project participants took full advantage of the language skills acquired during preparatory language courses. They made a remarkable progress in creativity development, entrepreneurship and boosted their self-esteem needed on the labour market. The practical skills and knowledge obtained by the students in the project were described and evaluated in the following documents: Partnership Agreement, Activity Plan Agreement and Individual Achievement Register, in which EVCET method was used. In consequence, after completing the training, the students received Europass Mobility and certificates issued by the host institutions and employers.
