Dimotiko Scholeio Makedonitissas 3-Stylianou Lena is located in Engomi ,a suburb of Nicosia and initiated it's work 7 years ago. 399 pupils, aged between 6-12, attend the school during this academic year, whilst 32 teachers are fully employed plus 10 more, non teaching staff. It is one of the biggest primary schools in Cyprus. The school is thoroughly equipped with all necessary educational and technological tools and applications (computers, broadband INTERNET connection, video-projectors, smart boards). Pupils come mostly from families of a higher socio-economical status and have every day access to a variety of technological devices such as tablets, smart phones and computers. Classes, though, are organized on the basis of mixed ability groups. Consequently, teachers need to continuously provide motives and use innovative ways of teaching, to maintain pupils' interest at high levels and achieve higher and better learning outcomes. Such methods could be innovative and creative ways of implementing ICT in the learning-teaching process. The proposed action plan intends to provide the teachers of our school with the relevant in service training, the experience and knowledge required, in order to use ICT in different, more effective and interesting ways, for the pupils to achieve better results. Specifically, we aim to provide in service training opportunities to the teachers, primarily to strengthen and enable them to use more effectively ICT and its' applications for communicating, for exchanging material, for being informed for administrative and organizational school subjects and for implementing ICT in their teaching practice. Secondly, to explore ICT additive value in order to improve learning outcomes across the curriculum and for all pupils. And thirdly, to improve school's administrative and organizational practices through ICT use.A number of approximately 10 teachers who have a degree (BEd) in education and Masters degrees in various subjects, will have mobility opportunities. Most of them have completed a compulsory in service training programme on Computers Basic Skills, offered by the Ministry of Education and Culture and speak English fluently. Seminars were carefully selected to provide both qualitative training and experience in various European countries, within a reasonable cost range. Subjects include the basic needs for our school, such as:- the use of tablets and other mobile devices in teaching processes, in order to enhance motivation, creativity and promote active learning-implement internet applications (i.e. moodle) for asynchronous or synchronous learning and teaching-utilise digital educational tools for pupils with learning difficulties.European mobility will also reinforce the project which already runs in our school, under the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute supervision, entitled "Innovative Schools and Teachers Cores for integrating ICT in schools". On the long term, we aim to build a digital culture in our school, both in teaching-learning processes and administration, to achieve advance learning outcomes.
