PROJECT
FINISHED
In the frame of promoting European programs and taking active part in different actions we decided to submit the project ‘Join Us’ that is about a European voluntary program where we will host 4 young volunteers in our organization LCYouth. Τhrough this proposal we will give the opportunity to 4 young people to participate in the program and also to offer services in our organization. At the moment we host 4 volunteers and we consider their presence as important to our organization and also to the promotion of the European voluntary Service.
The objectives of our project are the active participation of young people, the support of social integration of young people, the distribution of information to young people about European programs and the Erasmus Plus. Furthermore, we aim to promote the European Voluntary service in a local level, particularly schools, to fight against youth unemployment through alternative methods, to support volunteerism and multiculturalism.
Our participants are young people with fewer opportunities, facing economical, social and geographical difficulties. Despite their difficulties are positive to offer volunteer work. Furthermore, our volunteers are people interested in working in different fields such as youth, culture, education, society, etc. They have positive attitude to support and promote the EVS program. The profile of our volunteers is related directly to our project and we hope that we will acquire our objectives. In total, we will host 3 volunteers from Spain and 1 volunteer from France, they will offer their services for 9 months from October 2014-June 215. Our organization is the hosting and coordinating organization and two organizations from Spain (Colega Almeria,Ayuntamiento de Elche) and one from France (Reussir) are the sending organizations.
The activities that will take place during the service period focus on the daily work of the volunteers, participation in our projects, support of administration-work, support in workshops, etc. Also, within their activities they will present the EVS program to schools and different organizations, they will motivate young people to take active part in society and they will initiate an individual activity. The methods to be used are all experiental activities, workshops, observation, discussion, brainstorming, etc. All methods will be used during the volunteer’s service period.
The expected outcomes of our project focus on the participation of young people to local and European programs, dissemination of European voluntary service and exchange of knowledge and good practices. We expect that the results of the project will affect positively our organization, our volunteers and the young people of our city.
The impact of our project will be also positive for the participants and the local society. More specifically, at a local level the society will be in contact with the young volunteers, will get to know their culture and their own reality. Furthermore, in a regional level our volunteers will act as multipliers and motivate young people to participate in different projects. Finally, as already mentioned young Cypriots will be informed about the EVS and the opportunities offered to them.
The long-term benefits of the project will focus on the mobility of young people, participation in projects and thus improving their quality of life. We hope that young people will realize that participation in the EVS is an alternative solution to fight to unemployment.
