A project entitled “A Foreign Language – not that foreign. Multisensory Structured Language Learning” will be carried out in ZSO 11 between 1st July 2014 and 20th June 2016. The aim of the project is to fulfill our students’ needs (encourage them to learn foreign languages, improve their communication skills, teach them the culture of European countries) as well as the needs of our teachers (improving the knowledge of foreign language teaching methodology, using IT tools, improving the linguistic competence). The project is also to affect positively our school by introducing more attractive didactic program, extending educational offer and making it more competitive. The main part of the project is abroad courses organised as part of mobility of the educational staff program. The subject matter of the courses will be connected with the use of IT tools and introducing new methods of teaching such as drama, games or songs. It will also aim at improving teachers’ communication skills. The aim of the project is to create optimal learning environment for all students (especially those with special educational needs) along with organising at school informal educational activities (projects, after-school activities). Other objectives are to increase our students’ motivation for learning foreign languages and encourage them to gain knowledge about other cultures by promoting multilingualism as well as showing interculturalism in everyday life. Equalizing educational opportunities for our students is the priority of the project. Expected results of the project are: better exam results, new and attractive after-school activities, increasing students’ interest in European culture, increasing the linguistic competence of the teachers, making students and parents aware of the importance of learning foreign languages as well as adding the school a European dimension.
