Fırat Büyükcoşkun from Turkey will support the work of the Media Laboratory in the Socio-cultural center "Die VILLA" for 12 months. He'll accompagny the paid workers through their daily media-paedagogical work, through putting into practise their weekly offers, school projects and punctual actions and will continuously overtake own responsabilities. Aim of the project is to give a young turkish volunteer insights into the mediapaedagogical work with kids and youths from 8 to 25 years of age. By doing so, he can broaden his abilities in dealing with different media (analog and digital photografy, making and cutting of videos, trick and animation, webdesign, dealing with facebook/twitter/digital social networks). Mr Büyükcoşkun will at the beginning attend the ongoing offers of the media laboratory and then - guided by his interests and under surveillance of our media-paedagogues - broaden his technical abilities to overtake more and more own responsabilities. In the second half of his EVS he'll plan and put into practise an own project; this could be a weekly workshop or one bigger single workshop in the topic of his choice. On top of this, we hope to carry through an international youth exchange in summer 2015 around freedom of media as a human right which Mr Büyükcoşkun could actively support through all its phases. The young volunteer will be dealt in a way that orientates towards him and the process of learning he is going through: within a big range of activities he can choose those that fit his interests and fields of learning and try himself out, guided by professionals. By dealing with the visitors of the media laboratory and other events of Leipzigs biggest sociocultural center, he enters into exchange with numerous local active citizens and reflects upon his culture and perspective on life when living togehter with six other young Europeans. Mr Büyükcoşkun gains through the project a broadening of his abilities dealing with media apart from film and numerous possibilities of exchange with experts, citizens and other young internationals that will sustainably shape his personality because he wants to gain his living with making and editing movies. The hosting place gains the perspective of a young Turk, the impulses and abilities he enters into the media laboratory with his personal and cultural background. The volunteer can enter his new abilites, experiences and networks into the work of hios sending organisaiton Youth Art. Hosting and sending organisation gain partners for future cooperations in the fields of EVS or youth exchanges.
