It's Your Turn / Sıra Sende
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Mar 15, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Disability is an inevitable fact of our society. Do we know a disabled person? How much do we know about them? How much do we know about their needs? How much do we know how they feel? Do we know that they are in need of society as well as the society needs them? "It's Your Turn" is an Erasmus + Key Action 1 European Voluntary Service project, which will meet the needs of the disabled people and involve inclusion activities. It will be a short term - 2 month - project with the countries from Spain, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. 7 volunteers from these countries will commit their European Voluntary Service in Sinop, Turkey between 01.07.2014 and 10.11.2015. In the project, volunteers will be working with the disabled people by giving them support to participate in the society more actively as well as helping their cognitive and physical development. Volunteers will be doing such activities as art, music, dance, drama, handicraft, sports, etc. 35 hours a week. Each volunteer will finalize their volunteering service with an outcome which will engage the society's attention on disability. This outcome will be a film, an exhibition, a concert, a play, a show, etc. which the volunteer wishes to do. This final outcome will be dissaminated in all means of media so that it will reach a wider area. The volunteers, who will be between 17 - 30 years old, will have fewer opportunities and full of enthuisiasm to work with the disabled people. Firstly, they will be given some methods on optaining their behaviors and skills which will make their activies easier and then they will carve out their own activies. They will be referred the tools for inclusion in toolbox for training in SALTO and other online tools when they work with the disabled people. With this project, disabled people will see young people who are coming from remote lands to be their friends, who are listening to them, who are playing with them, who are walking with them and who are having a good time with them. The activities of the volunteers will have a positive impact on the disabled people so that their educational, physical and mental development will be supported. With our dissemination acitivities, the people will be encouraged to be a volunteer with the disabled people in the society. Our assoiciation will always be the coordinator of EVS projects on disability.
