ISH Goes International
Start date: Jul 18, 2016, End date: Jul 17, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

a. GoalsThe Hansenberg Castle is a boarding school for motivated and gifted children. The Project „ISH Goes International“ is designed to enable our school to stabilize and broaden the range of its internationally oriented offers. The goals of our project can be summarized as follows:- We already established important projects such as bilingual history classes and the organization and supervision of international internships. We also use bilingual materials within the framework of our profile course (this course is designed to deepen skills in the fields of history, politics and economics). Thus, the primary goal of our project is to secure these offers and improve their quality.- Our secondary objective is to broaden our program. A particularly urgent goal is to make it possible to offer bilingual classes in political science, economics and philosophy. In addition to that we strive to use more bilingual material within the scope of our regular classes and projects. Our students show an enormous motivation when dealing with authentic materials or sources and thus it is a major aspiration of the participating colleagues to match this interest.- Our third goal is to promote general school development through new impulses regarding didactics, methodology and the organization of teaching.b. ParticipantsThe selected teachers are very heterogeneous with regard to their background. However, they are all deeply involved in the implementation of the above mentioned projects and classes. Two of the participants are history teachers one of whom is already giving bilingual lessons. The third colleague is a teacher with a specialization in Romance studies, but since he is part of the supervision for the internships he's participation is crucial to the overall success. Both history teachers are eager to give bilingual classes in their respective second subjects, i.e. in politics and philosophy.c. The training in Great Britain and the intended outcomeThe participants will complete CLIL-courses in english language in Great Britain. These courses are designed to improve the verbal, methodological and didactical skills of the teachers. In short, the three teachers are to be enabled to give bilingual classes that are in accordance with contemporary standards. One of the main reasons why the particular courses have been selected is that they allow to focus on questions that are particularly interesting for our colleagues. Following these courses the implementation back at school is intended to start right away. We shall use the structures already in existence in order to carry the new impulses and ideas into the faculty. The long-term goal of our school is to implement „ISH Goes International“ in its entirety and thus meet the expectations of our ever challenge-seeking students and present them with a truly formidable program.
