Objective The main objective of the International Master in Quaternary and Prehistory is to train young researchers in the fields of prehistory, paleo-anthropology, palaeontology, methods and techniques for prehistoric and archaeological research, quaternary’s geology and heritage preservation.Course duration Two years (120 ECTS)Brief DescriptionThe International Master in Quaternary and Prehistory aims to prepare professionals holding a valid cultural background in scientific research and methodologies for the analysis of ancient human history both from a cultural and naturalistic perspective.The students have the possibility to select their own specific training curriculum within the offer available at each partner institution. The general curricula in which the students can specialize are: prehistory, paleo-anthropology, new methodologies applied to prehistorical research, quaternary geology and palaeontology, paleo-environmental reconstruction, heritage preservation and revaluation.All partner institutions provide specialized laboratories where students can carry out their work thesis. The final thesis represents a fundamental step for the training of future researchers since it allows acquiring the methodological background to face top-level research in the field of pre-history and related disciplines.International experienceStudents and teachers’ mobility among partners is arranged according to the curriculum chosen by the students. Each student must do a mobility period between six and twelve months in one of the partner institutions. During summer, the students perform fieldwork at the prehistorical excavations directed by the Consortium members.The official languages of the Master are English and French, but the students are encouraged to learn also the languages of the consortium members (Italian, Spanish and Portuguese).A number of EU-funded scholarships are offered to the best qualified candidates.DiplomaThe Master course awards a joint degree signed by all partner institutions. The students can also ask for the national degree awarded by the first hosting institution.
