Intergenerational Learning in Organisations

The demographic situation in Europe is changing. People are getting older and need tostay longer in their working lives. In the past older employees initiated younger oneshow to work, but nowadays technical knowledge changes very quickly and it oftenoccurs that the older workers need to get taught by younger ones. This can causeconflict between older experienced workers to younger bosses, both in workenvironments and training provision outside the company. The project wants tochallenge such learning situations and guide human resource managers how to dealwith these new developments, how to create possibilities for intergenerational exchangein their companies and how to solve conflicts.To offer support to companies the project aims to develop a teaching and learningmodel, which can be used in companies and organisations and which facilitates andenhances intergenerational learning and exchange. The model will include latestscientific results on learning abilities and on workplace learning. It will not be a conceptfor a conventional training seminars but a complex mix of new learning strategies,settings and techniques. The project sets out to raise the sensitivity of employers andworkers concerning the issue of intergenerational learning in general in the EU.
