he KHG´s motto is "living together and learning from each other." The KHG is a meeting place for students and young academics. Nations and cultures from all over the world meet here. Students from different disciplines, students of the first year as well as students who are writing their thesis come together here. A diverse program is organized on a voluntary basis by students (www.khg-erlangen.de). An emphasis is placed on international or intercultural events. “Living together and learning from eachother” first take place during the weekly meeting on Tuesday evening. It offers the opportunity to get to know each other. The Pacelli House, the KHG´s residence, provides housing for students from different nationalities who live together for several semester or years. The volunteer has a room in the Pacelli House and thus lives together with the other students. In addition, he/she primarily works in the intercultural field, that means during the weekly meetings on Tuesday evening, in the organization of country-specific evenings and intercultural festivals, intercultural and interreligious seminars and workshops and recreational activities in sporting, artistic, musical or other areas, depending on the volunteer´s interest and talent. EVS volunteers are also given the opportunity, to present their homeland. Likewise, he/she can attend the annual trips to other states. All activities allow him / her and the other students an intercultural learning. He / she is a member of the council of the KHG, which meets once in two weeks. Here the students coordinate all activities of the KHG and make decisions that affect community life.A second focus of the project lies on the field of public relations. The volunteer takes part in the KHG´s public relation, is responsible for the website and publishes a bi-weekly newspaper. He/she is responsable for the layout and the design.The ideas and the creativity of the students are part of KHG´s identity. Each semester, two times a year a new program is created. The volunteer is involved in the planning and can contribute own ideas and organize new activities alone or together with the students. In addition, he / she can attend all courses and offers of KHG for free. The KHG is a Christian meeting place, which is open to all faiths, religions and non-believers. The ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, above all, the dialogue with Muslims and Jews, is important. The volunteer can also engage him-/herself in this dialogue. The eleven months are a time of learning , in which he / she can acquire skills in different areas: the German language, intercultural, media and communication skills, competence in the organization and implementation of different training programs. The volunteers get upport, guidance and training not only get by the director of the KHG, but also from other students and especially the KHG team, which currently consists of seven people. This team is available for all kinds of questions.
