Context: It is part of the European idea to overcome borders. That is why it is important to give the young people the opportunity to work abroad. If the trainees are mobile they will b mobilein their jobs in the future. The cooperation of the countries in the trades (here Catering and Service), institutions (here the vocational school Berufskolleg Kleve) leads to a better understanding of foreign cultures. In addition, a modernization of the training system is funded. Objectives: The general business is to promote the internationalization of trainees and vocational training institutions in Europe. This leads to an expansion of opportunities for action across national borders and can help to find jobs where there are offered (Catering and Service as "international employer").. A regional objective is to promote tourism in the Lower Rhine Area: With a steadily growing tourism new ideas are also often asked to compete with other regions. This makes sense to acquire international knowledge of guests and customers abroad and to make use of them in their home country. Number and profile of the participants: In this fifth project of the Department of Health and Nutrition nine trainees of the Catering and Service industry and a teacher participated (the applicant Mr. Schmidt). The trainees were in the 2nd or 3rd year of their training in the professions chef, hotel and restaurant trade. Mr. Schmidt has worked in Finland for four weeks, two weeks in a restaurant kitchen and two weeks at school. With this project, in addition to technical skills, the language skills and intercultural skills of the participants have improved enormously. Results and reached effect: The workplacement of the trainees of the Service and Catering industry has also shown in this passage again that all our trainees have met the requirements. The trainees were training to be able to actively participate in the host mode and apply their previously learned knowledge and skills. Mr. Schmidt is able to compare intensively vocational training institutions (Finland, Iceland, Germany) and is really pleased to promote the internationalization at his vocational college. The trainees have overcome their shyness and get in touch easily with foreign guests. Previous language barriers are no longer perceived. This also applies to Mr. Schmidt. Long-term benefits: The trainees are really able to work abroad after a successful training abroad and to acquire additional methods, skills and knowledge there. They are looking forward to looking for job opportunities. Several trainees have received offers to get a job in Finland and Iceland. Even Mr. Schmidt has benefited greatly and has to advance the internationalization at the Berufskolleg Kleve with an interested team of colleagues. The mobility of the training staff and the experience gained will benefit the internationalization of the Berfuskolleg Kleve.
