The 9 activity days youth exchange "Intercultural Theatre and Common Stories" will be held in Italy, in Fiorenzuola d'Arda, from 16th to 24nd June 2016 (excluding travel days), while the APV will take place previously, between 5-6 March.Context/Background:The idea of the project comes out of the lack of arts and intercultural understanding, needs that we consider both local and European. As our association, Sciara Progetti, has a lot of experience in performing arts, we consider that through certain methods and right guidance, the intercultural dialogue can be supported and promoted. On the other way around, by organizing an intercultural exchange, the value and the role of performing arts in social life might increase considerably. This project is meant to highlight the importance of diversity at individual and cultural levels when it is seen as resource, in contrast with destructive conflicts that normally appear when it is seen as an obstacle.Objectives:- to support and encourage the beauty of diversity and the benefits of intercultural dialogue with arts and non-formal methods among 30 young people from 5 different countries- to enhance creativity, self confidence and self discipline among 30 young people through performing arts - to discover and explore traditions and habits behind the stories of 30 young people from 5 different cultures - to reach common ways of communication, expression and mutual understanding, using storytelling and theater as central tools, applicable in the local communities - to share skills, knowledge and good practices in order to facilitate participation in performing arts and for a better access to arts in generalParticipants:30 participants with age between 16 and 25 years, from Italy, Romania, Spain, Netherlands and Poland adding experts in performing arts, will create a pleasant intercultual atmosphere where ideas and creativity will turn into artistic performances.Activities:A non-formal methodology will be based on: storytelling workshops, theatre techniques, interaction with the local community, energizers, role games, teamwork, debates and open discussions, reflection, cultural visits, intercultural moments, creative sessions. From individual storytelling, to experiencing theatre methods in small groups, the project will eventually finish with a performance concerning intercultural issues.Impact:The learning process is meant to support the participants' personal growing, developing skills, improving attitudes and gaining knowledge regarding cultural and intercultural aspects, theatre and performing arts, non formal education and intercultural learning. With a better understanding of intercultural dialogue and mutual respect as concepts, the 30 participants will have a different perspective about diversity in general and conflicts in particular. All results and outcomes will be passed directly and indirectly to the partners in order to apply or develop them in their local or international projects.
