The IDEAL project (Intercultural Dialogue in Europe through Active poLicies for integration) realizes a Module fostering the introduction of an European angle in the Faculty of Education of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC). IDEAL intends to support the Europeization of the host institution and to introduce an inter-disciplinary perspective in dealing with one of the main challenges for European society: the social and cultural integration among Eu and Non-Eu members. The topic focuses on EU citizenship, social and cultural integration and on the activation of policies in the area of intercultural and interreligious dialogue. The module will be realized through 3 additional courses to the ordinary Education Faculty study plan (one per year) designed with the contribution of a multidisciplinary team. The course teaching activities are articulated each year in a Basic Module and a Thematic Module. These teaching activities are academic lectures. General fundamentals in Eu knowledge will be provided in a Basic Module, repeated for three years, while three different sub-topics will be specifically deepen every year as follows: (year1) International Education and Mediation, (year2) Interreligious Dialogue, (year3) Intercultural Dialogue and the role of the Family. Moreover the learning program will be completed each year by a tailor-made Study visit, involving JM participants, the managing staff and beneficiaries of selected services for migrants in the city of Milan.The Module structure has been designed with the convincement that the construction of specific intercultural skills in high-status researchers and professionals in the field of education and social work requires not only class contact hours but also in-field experiences.
