Innowacyjność i profesjonalizm odpowiedzią na wyzwania edukacyjne starzejacego się społeczeństwa
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of this project was to enhance the professionalization and innovation of our activities in educating seniors. This includes the organization, promotion, and validation of learning, methodology and new forms and components of courses which are presently our organizations' priorities: particularly teaching foreign languages, memory training, and cognitive functions - courses to activate older seniors. As such, the project addressed those spheres of our organization's activities in which the greatest needs had been identified, and were a vital component of our strategic development plan. We carried out ten mobilities, of which six were training courses: three in the field of the methodology of teaching seniors foreign languages, two in innovative elements in teaching seniors based on autobiographical methods, one in validating informal and non-formal learning. The remaining four mobilities were carried out in the form of job shadowing - two in British institutions organizing the most interesting educational activities for seniors, where we gained experience in the organization and promotion of learning in later life, and which hold courses on memory support. Another one was organized as a two-phase job shadowing activity carried out in Italy and Spain - countries where expression through movement is a traditional part of communication. With the assistance of selected experts/coaches we learnt how to adapt elements of expression through movement and paratheatrical forms to enrich our educational program for seniors. A vital part of the project were the intensification and development of our international cooperation, carried out through involving our project partners, which facilitated our gaining mutual advantage, mutual inspiration, and the creation of a basis for carrying out future projects, particularly those involving the introduction of innovation in seniors’ education. As a result of this project, we not only enhanced the quality of our organization’s work, improved our educational services, and raise our professional qualifications in the subjects focused on by the travelling members of our team, but also intensified international dialogue in the field of seniors’ education and explored and developed innovative forms and methods of teaching, learning, and personal development for the elderly. The long-term advantages of the project were, primarily, the enrichment of our programs and teaching methods, and the creation of a possible partner organizations basis for carrying out international projects in the future.
