Initiating Pathways for Innovators Researchers and Entrepreneurs (INSPIRE)
Start date: Jan 31, 2012, End date: Dec 30, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The INSPIRE project aims to create an environment to nurture idea generation among innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, SMEs and other people with experiential learning. The project aims to assist beneficiaries in bringing these ideas to market and provide them with the skills needed for sustainable development and strong growth potential. INSPIRE will assist with the creation of new knowledge-based products and services by providing beneficiaries with the skills to create & refine ideas through to concept development and commercialisation. The project will recruit 60 participants, leading to the creation of 16 enterprises, 20 jobs, 40 products and 24 SMEs assisted. In two stages, the project will generate innovative & knowledge-based business ideas that have potential to be turned into commercially viable products and services, and provide a series of practical and targeted interventions to instil the necessary skill set for successful idea commercialisation. A best practice guide on inspiring innovation will be developed as a project outcome to assist other innovators, researchers & entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to market after the project. Cross border relations will provide opportunities for participants to interact, strengthening the sustainability & competitiveness of new & existing enterprises. Successful project outcomes will enhance the economic development of the cross-border region and continue to encourage indigenous start-ups beyond the life of the project. Achievements: The INSPIRE project was set up in 2012 by Pembrokeshire County Council in Wales and the Institute of Technology, Carlow in Ireland to foster idea generation among innovators, entrepreneurs and, through intensive mentoring, to help bring ideas to market. She created her own chocolate recipes in the workshops and by using a specialist printer is able to personalise and commercially brand her goods. Her tasty diversion has certainly paid off and Leeann has attracted variety of local and national clients and ships worldwide directly from the company website, www.chocolatesbyme.co.uk. Leeanns most recent success is to supply to the national Mercure hotel chain (UK).- See more at: http://www.irelandwales.ie//news/sweet_taste_of_success#sthash.56Vav1tG.dpuf
