Inclusion through performance
Start date: May 2, 2016, End date: Oct 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The association of inclusive culture was founded with the purpose of carrying out humanitarian activities, education and promotion, and working to develop an inclusive culture. In this context as well as concern for the exercise of the rights of children, adolescents and adults with special needs and children and adolescents with typical development. However, as our experiences have shown, the formal education is more successful if it includes the non-formal aspect. Having this in mind we have been organising youth project for many years, this project being one of them. The project »Inclusion through performance« consists of two activities (a training course and a youth exchange) which complement the whole. The training is designed for teachers, trainers and youth workers to obtain high-quality formal and informal education in two key areas; music and special needs. Through the expert knowledge and skills acquired at the training, participants will upgrade their existing knowledge and empower themselves to work in their field of expertise. The knowledge and experience acquired in the training course will be used immediately in implementation of the youth exchange. Training course will be based on non-formal education methods such as group discussions, exchange of views on the implementation of inclusion in practice, simulation of activities, role play, music workshops to encourage creativity and active participation. Additionally participants will learn how to use these methods for further work within their institution. Youth exchange will address the integration of the two things that seem incompatible at first sight: top musicians and children and youth with special needs. During the exchange there will be diverse activities which will enable that children and young people with special needs will socialize with musicians, learn social skills, participate in music performances and develop social and musical skills. This project is driven by the wish to achieve inclusion, namely, to enable active participation of youth with special needs, so that they get the opportunity to express themselves through music and performance in inclusion with world famous musicians. This way we give youngsters the message of their own worth and value.
