According to the motto "What is the world we want to live in? - Young people shape the future" Don Bosco Mission organised a youth exchange with 40 participants from eight different countries. From 19th to 26th January 2015 the young people dealt with their personal experiences in their home countries and got to know the reality of the lives of youths in other European countries as well as neighbouring countries. After an intense teambuilding phase which created trust and friendship the participants became engaged in the topic of social committment and composition. Through different pedagogical methods they carved out similarities and differences of their societies and designed a mutual vision of the world they want to live in.
By building a Leonardo-Bridge as a public activitiy which also included the passers-by in the city centre of Bonn the young people emphasized the importance of collective activities and commitment for society. At the same time they realized that their personal committment is relevant.
At the Don Bosco Forum on 24th January 2015 the participants discussed on stage the inclusion of young people in change and development processes with the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the general economer of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The young people stood up for their future vision and made clear how important it is to include the perspective of children and youths in all processes in society.
