On the one hand the Youth Exchange "United in Diversity" intends to introduce the cultural and political achievements of the European Union to the participants of Poland, Hungary, Slovenia and Austria. On the other hand this Youth Exchange wants to illustrate that all the States who acceded the European Union did not have to give up their specific cultural heritage - quite on the contrary: keeping one´s cultural peculiarities and enjoying the diversity of Europe contributes to an enriched experience of the European Union. However it is our common responsibility to uphold the Union´s accomplishments for future generations. Therefore it is necessary to focus on Europe´s diversity of the regions as well as a Pan-European solidarity. The venue of this Youth Exchange is an idyllic rural village high up in the Carinthian mountains in Southern Austria. The juvenile hosts are from a farmer´s background. The 24 guests are mostly pupils from urban environments. This interesting contrast will give us the possibility to discuss and compare different life styles, different approaches in life. The working language is German, a basic knowledge is thus required, an improvement of their German-skills is an additional benefit from this Youth Exchange. The village where the Youth Exchanges takes place is situated in the middle of pure nature and forests. Hikes and different other sports acitivies will provide a context of recreation. The Collegium Grafenbach is an experienced organizer of Youth Programmes and focuses on intercultural dialogue. We therefore hope that our participants will create a lot of new international and sustainable contacts.
