In love with energy efficiency
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Mar 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The youth exchange “In love with energy efficiency” will take place in Tirana and Himara (Albania) from 7 to 15 of October 2014. The project idea started to shape up during YEE’s Annual Meeting 2013, when some youth environmental organisations decided to partnership and prepare a project to share knowledge and learn more about energy efficiency and the role of young people on this issue. The YE will attempt to fulfill the following objectives: -To increase the knowledge of young people on renewable energy resources and energy efficiency. -To explore and develop simple daily practices for the reduction of energy expenditure without sacrificing our comfort. -To empower and modify participants’ attitudes towards energy sustainability and encourage them to spread this new approach in their communities. -To exchange experiences and best practices from different countries in terms of environmentally friendly investments and initiatives for cleaner, fairer and safer energy production. -To foster youth’s creativity, entrepreneurship, cooperation and networking. It will gather 25 participants from six member organizations of the network Youth and Environment Europe from 5 different countries: Czech republic, Albania, Portugal, Poland and Moldova. The 5 group leaders will meet in Tirana (Albania) on 5-7 of September 2014 for an Advanced Planning Visit. There will be different type of activities during the YE: practical workshops, discussions and debates, sessions with experts, work with the community and an information and awareness raising campaign. All the sessions will be run with methods of non-formal education, learning by doing and sharing of experience. The participants will gain knowledge on the topic of energy efficiency, they will become active citizens, feel empowered to take action in their communities and adopt positive attitudes towards the use and sources of energy. They will learn how to work in a team, to communicate, to work in an intercultural environment, to campaign, to work with the community, to develop their own ideas and to encourage other young people to fight for their rights. A follow up plan will be designed on the last days of the youth exchange. It will aim to spread the results of the project among other young people, environmental organisations, communities and wide public. It will include many activities like workshops, informational campaigns or exhibitions.
