Improving cultural exchanges
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Jun 16, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Association PAUSE (Parents and Adult working together for the interest of the Children) intends to work towards a better European awareness among young and old residents of the Municipality of Novéant-sur-Moselle (Lorraine - France) and neighboring municipalities. Indeed, historically the town has been a common boundary line of demarcation between France and Germany during the German annexation of 1870, then during the two world wars. Thus a psychological trace remains despite past generations with the consequent closure of the territory than elsewhere face to the European territories yet neighbors like Germany. Furthermore, mindful of the real added value of European mobility brings youth, workers, students and the wider European citizens by the rich exchange and transfer of good practices that can be achieved on this occasion, members of the association PAUSE, in connection with the Municipality of Novéant-sur-Moselle, want to increase the intercultural richness by the welcoming of the European Voluntary. The project aims at welcoming for the second time, but this time on a period of one year, within the rural communities of Alvik/Antnäs/Ersnäs (rural suburbs of the municipality of Luleå in Sweden) a Young French European Volunteer. This project constitutes the reciprocity of the reception of two Swedish EVS in France within the municipality of Novéant-sur-Moselle in 2012 and 2013. Indeed, both partner municipalities signed agreements of twinning on August 5th, 2011 and are still developing exchanges between citizens. Also, through actions of intercultural awareness with other European countries and other European cultures, under which the recent formal twinning with Luleå a town in the far north of Sweden, the association now wants to welcome or send European young volunteers in order to support the development of new intercultural activities. The hosting organization, the municipality of Luleå, intends to work in a better European awareness with young and less young resident of the Municipality and the nearby municipalities. By actions of intercultural opening with other countries of Europe and the other European cultures, the municipality wishes to welcome a young European volunteer to reinforce the development of new intercultural activities between both partner municipalities in Sweden and France. The EVS will bring its traditions, its cultural differences and its personal skills in the activities of cultural and leisure activities realized with the children from 3 to 18 years old of the municipality. He will also facilitate the development of new activities between the local actors of the twinning municipalities (with the participation of schools, local associations, and exchange between citizens). He will contribute to the development of new actions with which some will be concentrated on the life long learning issues of the young people and the seniors of the partner municipalities.
