The implementation of the project will be aimed to enchance socialization of mental disabled as well as it will reduce the burden on the sector of the public social services. For this will be introduced new methods of social work, applied the infrastructure and staff experience of both institutions. It will not only allow office workers to exchange best practices through training, adapting the material facilities for psychosocial services, but also allow patients of these institutions to communicate through joint events. The project will contribute to the enhancement of social service facilities, development of psychosocial rehabilitation services and implementation of new methods, thereby creating more favourable conditions for treatment for the mentally disabled of Latvian-Lithuanian border regions. Cooperation is going to be enhanced, quality and accessibility of the services is going to be improved, providing opportunities to ensure further growth of training of human resources. Objective of the project -is to create favourable conditions to enhance socialization of the mentally disabled of Panevežys and Latgale regions so as to reduce the burden on the sector of public social services. Project sub-objectives: 1. Enhancing socialization of the mentally disabled by applying innovative approaches, available experience and cooperation potential. 2. Development of favourable infrastructure to apply innovative socialization enhancement approaches. The planned project activities are divided into two major subgroups: 1. Implementation of innovative approaches to enhance socialization of the mentally disabled: Development of newly-implemented methods (programs) of psychosocial rehabilitation services; arrangement of training-consulting sessions; arrangement of experience sharing activities (discussions) together with regional communities; physical activity and sports competitions together with regional communities; arrangement of exhibitions (works of the mentally disabled) for the community of the region. 2. Development of a supportive infrastructure aimed to apply innovative socialization approaches: adjustment of Rokiškis psychiatric hospital environment for the installation of sports grounds and paths for bicycles and roller-skaters. adjustment of Daugavpils psycho-neurologic hospital site for the installation of sports grounds. Expected Results: In cooperation with external experts of social rehabilitation, 2 methodological programs will be prepared:"Psychoeducation in psychosocial rehabilitation" and "Program of physical health maintenance and promotion of physical activity to be applied in parallel in both hospitals. Both project partners will participate in program preparation, but RPH will be responsible for final preparation. Both partners will prepare organization of sessions, introduction and practical program implementation. Institutional facilities (infrastructure) will be set-up and adapted to provide new psychosocial rehabilitation services. A part of the site will be set-up and equipped with the sports grounds in both Rokiskis and Daugavpils PHs. Exhibitions of patients works of Rokiškis psychiatric and Daugavpils psycho-neurological hospitals will be organized in the course of the project that will be open to regional communities. Exhibitions will be organized in Daugavpils and Rokiškis (specific location will be selected during the project period) and later will exchange places: Lithuanian exhibits will be displayed in Daugavpils and Latvian ones in Rokiskis. The planned duration of the exhibitions is 1 month for each exposition. It is expected to organize the "Sports games of Rokiskis psychiatric and Daugavpils psycho-neurological hospitals" in the course of the project. Qualification competitions will be organized among patients of each hospital during the games and the main competition will be held in Rokiskis psychiatric hospital. The program of the games will be designed taking into account the newly developed psychosocial rehabilitation "program of physical health maintenance and promotion of physical activity.
