IES Almunia is a Secondary Education School offering curriculum diversification programmes, A levels on Science and Technology , initial VET in "Microcomputer and Network Systems", a VET higher degree in "Development of Multiplatform Applications" and Initial Vocational Training program (PCPI) in " Computer and communications". Since 2004 we are an ICT and DIG centre and we developed the project " SCHOOL AS AREA OF PEACE " between 2006 and 2007.
We want to provide an education based on certain competences and capabilities such as autonomy , entrepreneurship, responsibility and active participation which guaranteed success in the social and professional integration of students, giving special consideration to the individual person and the daily and systematic effort .
Being aware of the society we live in, the social projection of our teaching-learning system, and the social and professional skills that our students should get, we must promote a teaching methodology based on experience.
Last year we developed a KA1 project for 9 VET students and it was carried out with extremely positive results. That is why we want to keep on working in that direction. This new project is addressed to 10 initial VET students of "Microcomputing and Networks Systems". They are between 18-24 years old, and will have a training period of 12 weeks in a company. Furthermore, the School wants to offer mobility opportunities to our staff. This suggestion received positive feedback and therefore this project is also addressed to 5 members of staff who will carry out a two-week "Job Shadowing" stay in similar schools abroad.
The school will have receiving organizations that will select the work placements, will provide the students with accomodation, will arrange the airport transfer on the participants arrival, will accompany the participant to the job interview, will manage the monitoring, will issue the final report.
We believe that this project will have positive results for our students, teachers, and the school. We will increase the cooperation agreements with other european centers, we will be able to improve our international strategies, to make a common qualification framework, to get experience and improve our processes of implementation in mobility projects as well as build on the experience gained during the last project.
We are sure that we can start a european network where we will exchange good practices and will acquire innovating teaching tools.
