The 'IBS' project focuses on the need for new training programmes in international commerce that provide competencies and work qualifications for the new profile of Telesales Operator. This project responds to the current structural and organisational changes in the field of international trade, and aims to contribute to filling the employability gap in the labour market in small and medium-sized enterprises. The project will design new modules for the international business studies curricula, dealing with telecommerce and telemarketing. The partners involved in this project are six associated educational centres, trade companies and chambers of commerce, who will facilitate transfer of expertise and good practice. The curricula will consist of the following phases: identification of new skills and qualifications required by companies in this sector; design of new teaching material based on international case studies, and development of a teachers' guide. The curricula and materials will be tested and evaluated in an international business experimental programme. Representatives of the different colleges will promote the incorporation of this model into the official vocational system of their own countries. A web site will be created containing detailed information about this international business programme, learning methodologies and further information about the colleges where these modules will be tested. The products will be disseminated to a European audience through the forum for qualification transparency.
