Start date: Oct 1, 2016, End date: Mar 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

One in five Europeans suffer any discrimination. This figure, far from diminishing, increases every year. The multiple crises afflicting our continent are feeding an increasing rejection towards diversity, causing a disturbing breakdown of the social fabric. That's why it's necessary to work on each small local community building bridges of understanding between the different groups that compose it. Only then we'll be able to build a more united and tolerant society.A new and very effective methodology to achieve this goal is known as Human Library. Are events in which, using the metaphor of a library, general public is invited to chat in a safe and intimate atmosphere with people who suffer some kind of social stigma. In this way they manage to create channels of empathy destroying stereotypes that too often degenerate into discrimination.humanlibrary.edu is a two years long strategic partnership between organizations of Spain and Czech Republic through which we intend to disseminate and, at the same time, professionalize this methodology. How?- By organizing at least 3 Human Libraries in each country addressing the specific problems of each community. One of the same them will have an international component because we'll have a bookcross between the two countries. We expect direct involvement in the events of around 280 people (students, books, organizers and readers)- Through the creation of an online and free course in order to train future organizers of HL on the principles of the methodology. The course will have a significant audiovisual component with about 30 minutes of videos to which various exercises, infographics and texts are added. We'll distribute it in three languages (English, Czech and Spanish) through various digital platforms to reach an European audience.- In two national events in which we will present the methodology and the course to at least 20 representatives of social organizations from our communities. As results of the project we can mention the creation of two local groups of 20 people each prepared to continue destroying stereotypes through subsequent HL and the exchange of knowledge and best practices between the two partners. Not to forget the training tool in the form of an online course which will prepare HL organizers across the continent. With all this work we will do our bit in achieving a slightly more tolerant Europe.
