Higher education student and staff mobility project

The Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk undertook a project based on a financing agreement No. 2014-1 -PL01-KA103-000313 in the period from 06/01/2014 to 31/05/2016. Within the framework of the project student mobility studies and student mobility placements took place, as well as staff mobility for teaching and staff mobility for training. There were 46 participants of the project in total, including 26 people who participated in study programmes abroad, 11 who took part in an internships abroad, 6 employees who provided their teaching programmes, and 3 who did a training programme in one of our partner institutions. The project was carried out on the basis of more than 50 bilateral agreements, signed up with higher education institutions from most European countries. The aim of the project was to increase the mobility of students of first-cycle, second-cycle and long-cycle degrees, which builds and strengthens its participants competences desirable in the labor market, such as creativity, self-reliance, openness to changes, teamwork, work organization and multilingualism. Participation in the project allows to prepare participants better to operate in the socio-economic conditions of modern Europe, while respecting cultural differences and the principle of equality. An additional objective in relation to foreign internships was to enable participants to use the theoretical knowledge acquired during studies in practical tasks carried out in foreign enterprises of the profile corresponding to their field of study. The traineeships were handled not only by students, but also by recent graduates, within 12 months after graduation. In regard to the implementation of mobility for the purposes of teaching, the aim of the project was to raise the quality of education offered by the academic staff and to build international contacts, which make possible to implement projects that go beyond the activities of the KA -103 action, including research projects. Implementation of the mobility of employees for training purposes familiarized participants with the methods and organization of work in partner institutions within the framework of so-called job shadowing, having impact on development of their professional qualifications. Implementation of the project took place in accordance with the rules of the Erasmus Charter for higher education 2014-2020, including full recognition of achievements, providing support for participants at all stages of mobility programme and access to clear, accurate and prompt information. The beneficiary has acted in accordance with the principle of non-discrimination, making participation of the students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds in the project possible. The beneficiary acted on the basis of its the strategy of internationalization, set forth in the Erasmus Policy Statement, expanding its own scope of international cooperation with institutions from European Union countries. Partner institutions are chosen with due diligence, as institutions which promote and appreciate the creativity and innovation through creating the adequate educational offer. The academy seeks to maintain good relations within its inter-institutional cooperation through prompt and accurate transfer of information and documents, support provided to the participants who arrive to the Academy (both students and employees), and participation in jointly prepared artistic and international projects. Within the framework of the project, the Academy hosted 37 incoming students and 8 incoming teachers, representing partner universities, who have realized at the Academy of Fine Arts their teaching programmes. The experience gained by the beneficiary during the project made it possible to expand the network of international cooperation outside the programme countries. ASP established intensive contacts with universities in Beijing and Hong Kong, and implemented mobility with Asian partners based on the procedures similar to those characteristic for this project. Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk also used its experience in the application procedure for KA-107 contest, and after positive results, has successfully implemented a project with the institution from the partner country - Lviv National Academy of Arts. Owing to the project Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk builds the image of the institution having a great network of contacts in the international arena, conducive to the incoming and outgoing mobilities with high quality, as proved in the opinions expressed in individual surveys and qualifications acquired by the participants. The high quality of the project implemented by the Beneficiary is proven by the fact that many of the participants used the opportunity to carry out mobility repeatedly within their mobility capital. One of the best recommendations are also foreign students returning to the Academy of Fine Arts, as they decide to carry out their mobility inside its walls again.
