The project is about the implementation of four types of students and staff mobilities within the IES Valga Erasmus + programme for Higher Education.
Three mobilities were made by students of upper vocational training Metal Constructions to perform their internship in companies (FCT) in workplaces in the city of Wroclaw (Poland) and the fourth was a mobility of shadowing performed by a teacher from the above mentioned vocational training studies, also in Wroclaw (Poland).
The period of mobilities lasted more than two months for students and one week in the case of the teacher.
By participating on this project Valga Secondary School intended to begin a process of improvement in the following areas:
- Professional, social and civic competence of students.
- Foreign language skills of students and teachers.
- Communication and interaction with the business world.
- European dimension of the School.
- Acquisition of an European citizen awareness.
To develop this project and achieve the intended objectives, several activities have been carried out which can be grouped into the following phases:
1. Beforehand preparation of students at cultural, educational and linguistic level.
2. Approval, together with the home institution or foster, of the training programme.
3. Organisation of mobility (travel, insurance, accommodation ...).
4. Monitoring the activities developed by the students.
5. Widespread diffusion of the projects.
6. Academic progress of the results of projects to educate the rest of the academic community of its benefits.
7. Issuing official certificates recording the experience and time of the project.
All project phases have been developed respecting the principles of transparency, non-discrimination and equal opportunities for all participants, including underrepresented groups in accordance with the principles of the Erasmus Charter seeking the insurance of the maximum quality in each.
We believe that the participation in this project has been very positive for our students and for the school since it has allowed the students to live an enriching experience both at professional level , improving their curriculum, and at personal level, since they have experienced new situations in life that have made them become more mature and independent.
At a school level, this participation has made the educational community to be aware of these initiatives and these students to be more interested in participating in projects, which will allow us improve the quality of our teaching in the future and build international networks to be able to work in constant collaboration with other schools, companies and institutions taking benefit from a mutual learning.
