1- CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND:
Our project came about so that our students were able to learn about the early years education methodology from the educational expert Loris Malaguzzi, whose aim was to create a school that was kind, active, inventive, habitable, documented and communicable, a place for research, learning and reflection, where families, children and educators are happy, and where children are considered to be the builders of knowledge, identity and culture.
Our project started in 2010 in nursery schools (asili nido) for 0-3 year-olds run by Verona Local authorities in Italy.
We belong to a state school teaching 12 to 18 years old at Secondary, and Vocational Studies. We are part of the Vocational studies department in Early Years Education.
We are located in Fuengirola, a coastal town with 70.000 people with another 5 schools similar to ours.
2.-OBJETIVES:
-To complete Knowledge and skills acquired at school so that the students reach a higher level of professional qualifications.
-To be able to acquire techniques and skills required by facilities, organizations and structures pertaining to nursery schools which cannot be acquired at our school.
-To promote knowledge of the organization and working relationships within nursery schools, thus making their entry into the job market easier.
-To promote student´s autonomy, professional creativity and responsibility so that they can solve any matter arising within their daily practice in an independent manner.
-To adapt the knowledge acquired by the student to the real needs of nursery schools.
3.-NUMBER AND PROFILE OF THE PARTICIPANTS;
Out of the eight students taking part in the project, five have been awarded grants through the grant agreement by Erasmus+ and the other three students have been awarded mobility learning grants for work experience by Erasmus+ and from Ministerio de Educación Ciencia y Deporte.
The eight students were enrolled at Year 2 in Vocational Studies in early years education and have been selected considering both their marks and knowledge of Italian.
4.-DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT:
1.-Study and analysis of the context.
2.-Writing a report about the work place.
3.-Observing and participating in various activities supervised by a professional.
4.-Daily attendance to the work place.
5.-Following instruccions as well as being punctual.
7.-Applying the rules of customer service as well as ethical principles in the workplace.
8.-Applying Health and Safety regulations.
9.-Risk assesssment.
10.- Applying company regulations in the appropiate use of materials and spaces.
11.-Preparing a common intervention programme.
12.-Defining objectives and selecting contents.
13.-Defining activities considering time, spaces, materials and both human and monetary resources.
14.-Using audiovisual materials and equipment.
15.-Using different educational spaces and materials.
16.-Developing activities according to an agreed sequence within the time given.
17.-Applying organizational criteria for human resources considering the programme.
18.-Defining assessment strategy and techniques.
19.-Reports for both companies and educational authorities
20.-Information provided to the families according to an agreed procedure.
21.-Implementing the Child Attention Project.
5.-RESULTS AND IMPACT AS WELL AS SHORT TERM BENEFITS.
-Students are provided with an added value in their training.
-It allows a better access to the work market.
-Contribution to developing innovation.
-Contribution to an improvement in the students personal and professional ability.
-By using Loris Malaguzzi methodology, the students can start their own businesses.
We are in the seventh year of the project and we are committed to continuing with it long term. We have the right team and experience to do so, together with a one to one attention which is highly regarded by students and teachers alike.
