Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Fundació Eduard Soler is a small size vocational school and one of our strategies is the internationalization of our students and staff. 2014-15 was the first time our school participated in a Erasmus programme. Our school included in the Mechatronics programme a traineeship for students in international companies and it has been running for the last years. This traineeship is not Erasmus+, our school and the company pay for accommodation, insurances and flight tickets. We also have a collaboration programme with the BBS Verden school in Germany where we have being exchanging students for traineeships for the last 6 years. Thanks to Erasmus+ we had the opportunity to offer more mobility programmes to the rest of our students and staff. For us, having the ECHE allow us to be in contact with other European Institutions and send and receive teachers, which enhances our international strategy. Erasmus+ also allowed us to convert the existing 3-week programme with BBS Verden school in Germany into 2-month. We did not have any partner to work with for Erasmus, apart from the BBS Verden. We designed a leaflet explaining who we were and what we offered as a partner. We sent a invitation to more than 120 VET schools and universities from 14 European countries. A letter of intent was signed with 10 institutions. The goal was to carried out 5 student mobilities, SMT. An open and transparent selection process for the students was done. As a result, 3 post-graduates participants from Mechatronics programme and 2 from 1st year of Mechanical Production Scheduling met the requirements. The partners/institutions were: 1.FORAVE - Associação para a Educação Profissional do Vale do Ave (Portugal) 2.BBS Verden (Germany) 3.Solski center Postojna (Slovenia) 4.?OLSKI CENTER KRANJ (Slovenia) The companies were: 1.Leica-Aparelhos Ópticos de Precisão, S.A. Portugal (traineeship in Mechanical manufacturing) 2.MARS Petcare Germany (Traineeship in Industrial maintenance) 3.IMAS d.o.o Slovenia (Traineeship in Moulds production) 4.Kolektor d.o.o Slovenia (Traineeship in Moulds production) 5.Hidria Rotomatika d.o.o Slovenia (Traineeship in High speed press) The participants carried out production tasks in industrial environments, production of moulds and conventional and high speed press. They were involved in different departments depending on their performance and interests. We have experienced that meeting the institutions and companies is essential for achieving a high quality traineeship programme. Forave, BBS Verden and Solski Center Postojna have been in our school. During the traineeship with these partners the communication was fluent and their support to our students excellent. Solski Center Kranj, as we have not yet met, the communication during the traineeship was correct, we believe the communication needs to be improved by visiting them. Leica and Mars have conducted the traineeship in an excellent manner. These are multinational organizations with experience on traineeships. Also, the communication with the partners, Forave and BBS Verden is excellent, all together made a really good traineeships for the three parts. The traineeships in IMAS and Kolektor were also good. While the traineeship in Hidria needs more support, communication should improve in order to strengthen the relationship. We have realized that the attitude of students is crucial when carrying out more challenging tasks in companies. Those who did not shared their motivations with mentors did more repetitive tasks, as it happen to one of our five participants. All traineeship last for 60 days. We have also noticed, according to students' feedback, that in Slovenia student accommodation should be better. Our organization provides students with contact details of different possibilities. We believe students must take the responsibility of choosing accommodation as part of their international programme experience. In October 2015 we visited Slovenia to meet the institutions and the companies. We also talked about the next mobilities. Both institutions and partners met the quality requirements to carry out successful mobilities and industry is similar to Spain. This trip has improved the communications between institutions and companies and we believe the quality of mobilities will maintain and new mobilities will arise. We have found that Slovenia is a great country to collaborate with and we would like to keep working to achieve more mobilities there.
