Higher education student and staff mobility project

The ITB takes part in the Erasmus programme since its inception in 2006 and its strategy has been formed according to the EU internationalization requirements, including recognition of achieved results. Under the LLP-Erasmus programme, increasing number of students and staff was enabled to undertake the international mobilities. At the same time the ITB was established as a receiving institution and observed a steep increase of incoming mobility. Erasmus mobilities seeped into the consciousness of the ITB students and staff. Erasmus+ programme - KA103 in its first year continues with the programme objectives, enables the students and staff of the ITB to undertake their mobilities and enrich their study and professional experience. The claimed mobility objectives are to support the students in the acquisition of knowledge, skills and competences with a view to improving their employability in the labour market, support the professional development of staff, leading to increasing the level of internationalization, quality improvement of teaching process and course of the ITB as such, expanding cultural and language horizons of the participants, raise participants? understanding and tolerance in terms of international cooperation. Including the zero-grant mobilities, in the academic year 2014-15, the ITB sent 32 students for studies, which nearly doubled the original grant agreement expectations. Other outgoing mobilities were: 6 students for traineeships, 10 staff for teaching and 2 staff members for training. To sum up, quantitative objectives of the Grant agreement were fulfilled, concerning the SMS mobilities, which are in the main focus of the ITB, they even exceeded twice the number of expected mobilities. Majority of the student participants studied in the 2014/15 academic year in full-time form of bachelor?s degree study programmes. All of the ITB?s departments were represented among the outgoing teachers. In the 2014/15 academic year, there were no applicants with special needs or disadvantaged socio-economic background. Participant report provided by the Mobility Tool platform showed results confirming the fulfillment of mobility objectives. All of the respondents stated that during the mobility they gained the ability to cooperate with people from other backgrounds and cultures, are more confident and convinced of their abilities. Most of the students assume that thanks to the mobility they are more able to adapt to new situations, to reach decisions, to cooperate in teams, are more open-minded, tolerant and intend to participate more actively in social and political life. Such competencies are appreciated not only by the ITB, but particularly by the future employers of the mobility participants. Most of the staff, according to the participant report, improved their social, culture and linguistic competencies and gained sector-specific or practical skills relevant for their current job and personal and professional development. The ITB benefits from the fact, that thanks to the mobility, the staff members expanded their horizons in new learning practices and teaching methods, reinforced the contact with the partner institution and players in the labour market. Longer-term benefits can be seen in regard to points of the Modernisation agenda: Point 1 - Increasing attainment levels to provide the graduates and researchers Europe needs, point 2 - Improving the quality and relevance of higher education and point 3 - Strengthening quality through mobility and cross-border co-operation ? the mobilities generate benefits such as the involved persons? languages competences improvement, employability of the students and modernization of the ITB? teaching process.
