Our institution has the vision of becoming an inclusive vocational centre, a reference of innovation and prestige within the Vocational Courses offered in the service branch: that is, in the Hostelry, Tourism and Food Industry fields.
The aims of the grants are the following: Students have to benefit from the learning experience in other European countries, not only educationally, but also linguistically and culturally. Contribute to create a community of young future professionals well qualified, open-minded and experienced. Helping students to get adapted to the needs of a EU wide labour market. To allow students to develop specific competences, and to widen their knowledge of the social and economic aspects of the receiving country while they gain experience. The scholarships promote the cooperation between the HI institutions and the companies. They also contribute to the development of highly qualified young people groups, open- minded and with international experience as future professionals.
In relation to our partners, all of them are from the EU: FR, IT & UK. To choose them, once we have contacted them, our Management Staff decides which one suits best our requirements and needs. In the case of the receiving work placement companies for our students, there is always a previous visit to check that the partner company meets the necessary requirements to receive our students and facilitate their work. The Erasmus grants receptors are the students with an excellent performance in their studies and have a good command of a foreign language appropriate to do their work placement without difficulty. Moreover, at a personal level, they need to be people that can solve emerging problems, that can take their own decisions and to have autonomy for this purpose. During the 2014-15 school years 10 students have participated in the project, filling all the vacancies. In addition, 2 students were also able to benefit from a grant 0.
We had previously collaborated with the partner companies that have received our students, having all of them a positive report from both the school and the students. The main purpose of this exchange programme is to acquire linguistic competence in English, Italian and French . During their internship, students will become proficient in some curriculum areas, such as customer care and TICs management, among other tourist information related activities.
The activities developed by the students of Tourist Guiding, Information and Assistance according to the business plan , were as follows : Tour guide and tourist assistance processes. Participating in designing the plan for attending to the public in a tourist information system. The activities developed by the students of Hospitality Management at the Hotel Mercure in Montpellier and Liberty Bridge, Student Accommodation Provider in Cardiff were : Bookings, reception and concierge duties. Sales or events marketing department
Kitchen Management students, who have done their placement at the Hilton Hotel, and the scholarship 0 students have carried out the following tasks : Supply of raw materials and store management. Food preparation and preservation processes in the kitchen. Preparation of cakes and pastries in the kitchen. The two students of Travel and Event Management have done their work placement at 2 Arezzo agencies and their tasks were as follows: Marketing of tourist products and services, and after-sales services. Planning, organisation, management and control of events and ceremonies. Advice, sale, reservation and management of the use of tourist products and services. Organisation and control of package tours.
All the students who obtained the Erasmus + grant have done an internship in the receiving country, so that they have been immersed in a different language and culture for a period of two months, without outstanding difficulties. Besides, if we consider the curriculum content of the different branches, all the students have carried out activities related with their specific studies, they have acquired new techniques as well as new skills and ways of doing things.Regarding to linguistic competence, all the students have greatly improved their command of the target language, especially their listening and speaking skills, both in the everyday use of that language and its specific purposes (technical knowledge). The students who took part in this exchange programme have grown both professional and personally, as they had to overcome situations never experienced before. For all the above stated reasons, we firmly believe the main outcomes of this exchange programme have been fulfilled. Having the opportunity of spending some time abroad, living, working and functioning in a foreign language and a different culture, enhances our students in such a way that it will impact their lives. As a result, they will develop a wider mind and will become more tolerant and flexible individuals.
