Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Centro de Formación Somorrostro is a subsidised school institution located in Muskiz (Bizkaia), operating under the Ministry of Education of the Basque Country. The following official courses are provided: compulsory secondary-school education, Baccalaureate (Science and Humanities and Social Sciences), Initial Vocational Training, Advanced Vocational Training and Intermediate-Level (Expert) Vocational Training. Our experience in mobility activities made us see the effectiveness of these actions as a a complement for the training of our students, offering them the chance of taking part in a cultural exchange at all levels, on the labor market and on the personal, social and cultural level, without overlooking the importance of improving their language skills, an essential complement to their training. And, of course, taking into account the positive impact on their personal and career development. The project built on previous accomplishments and was based on the traineeship of Advanced Vocational Training students in EU countries. The seven students taking part in the project belonged to the following advanced vocational training courses: Marketing and Publicity, Automation and Electronic Systems, and Production Programming in Mechanical Production. All of the students have Education on the Workplace (FCT) as a compulsory module in their course. The students received 22 credits for their traineeship. As a compulsory part of their studies, the recognition is given automatically. The programme of the project was as follows: -Agreements were reached with the host organisations to adjust the content to the needs and the objectives of the activity. -Selection of the participants after disseminating the information and, once the application deadline was over, the participants were selected according to the different sets of profiles previously defined and following principles of equity. -Mobility preparation: presentation and quality assurance with the host organisations (appointment of tutors, specification of functions..) -Linguistic and cultural preparation of the participants. -Coordinator, student and host Institution signed agreements and documents with a detailed overview of their responsibilities. -Traineeship period: monitoring based on direct contact with the student, families and the person in charge in the host institution (reports submitted every fifteen days) - Final assessment: final reports submitted by the host organisation were the tool used for the assessment of the student. The traineeship is certified by the host organisation. The traineeship is included in the course curriculum, meeting all the necessary requirements to obtain their official degree. All the students succeeded in passing and completing their final course. Apart from the benefits on the personal level after such an experience, and thanks to what they have learnt, the certifications achieved and the improvement in their language skills, it will also enable them full incorporation into the labour market.
