"Pedro Mercedes" High School provides the following Higher Vocational Training Courses:
Web Applications Devolopment, Management of Information and Communication Technology Web System, Business and
Finance Adminstration; Forestry and Environmental Management and Automotion.
Our H.E.I. takes active part in the mobility projects within Erasmus Programmes, fostering the participation of the students
of the last course of the Higher Vocational, Training Cycles in their traineeships in work placement in U.E. enteprises as
well as that of the teaching and administrative staff in teaching, training, organization or supervision tasks.
As it is required in the Curiculum of Vocational Training, students must implement a training period in enterprises before
obtaining their qualification.
We firmly believe in the benefit of carrying out this training abroad since it will enrich the students in their academic and
vital experience with the opportunity of improving their technical, linguistic and personal competences when facing new
situations in a real work atmosphere. It will also be highly beneficial for the centre and the staff due to the chance of sharing
other educative experiences and professional practices.
The Centre provides informative, formative and logistic support to enhance the mobility of students and teachers.
The centre commits to the recognition of the implementation of these programmes both for our students and the incoming ones.
Therefore, we with these mobility programmes we intend:
1. To increase the number of students who successfully finish the Higher Vocational Training Courses.
2. To improve the quality of teaching and research in the traineeships in work placements providing the students with the
transferable competences they need in high-skill occupations.
3- To provide more opportunities for students to gain additional skills resulting from their training abroad.
4- To strengthen the cooperation that links the academic and research institutions with business.
5- To foster mechanisms of management and funding of excellence.
6. Enhance the development of the linguistic competence which will be useful for both their future professional life and their possibilities of training.
During this period three students two from the "Forestry and Environment Management" Cycle and one from the " Development of Web Applicattions "Cycle carried out therir internship in Cork (Ireland).
The students of the "Forestry and Environment Management" Cycle have successfully completed the following tasks:
Thinning and harvesting.
Wood culting service.
Wood marketing.
Forest establishment.
The student of the " Development of Web Applicattions "Cycle has successfully completed the following tasks:
Assistnce in the design of the company's website.
Adminsitration and creation of websites .
Marketing on social media.
Help in sales.
The results of the project have been highly satisfactory since, apart from having increased their level in the linguistic competence has led to the students' fulfilment of a whole process of acceptance of conditions to work in the company where they did their internship and of adaptation to their needs of accommodation, transport and survival , in which they had to use the English language. All this has contributed to minmise therir fear to survive in a foreign countru and will be extremely useful form their working and training future.
