The IES Isla de la Deva Secondary School is an educational institution supported by public funds. Being a Higher Education Institution (HEI), it offers Advanced Vocational Training studies in the field of Public Health (Pathology and Cytology and Laboratory of Clinical Diagnosis).
We have been participating in the European Sections Programme with a bilingual programme in the secondary levels since 2008, some subjects being taught in English. Since 2012 we have participated in mobility programmes, first as a member of a consortium and later as an independent institution within the Leonardo and Erasmus programmes, now so called Erasmus +. Besides, we have taken part in a Comenius Project shared with Institutions from Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Iceland and Sweden.
We do consider the Erasmus+ Programme a top priority in order to promote the exchange of experiences, cooperation and mobility in European space.
This project included three work placements for students in a hospital in Italy lasting two months and one staff mobility for training lasting 5 days, in a French HEI, since we had started contacts with a HEI interested in the exchange of students and faculty, as we were.
We set ourselves the following objectives:
- Improving the quality and attractiveness of the Vocational Education Training
- Increasing the exchange of experiences and good practices and the cooperation between HEI and the mobility among different systems of education and training.
- Contributing to increase the competitiveness, the employability and entrepreneurial skills.
- Promoting the attractiveness of the European High Education space and the Lifelong learning.
- Increasing European awareness and European citizenship.
