Rotterdam University of Appliences (HR) has a policy on internationalisation which is focused on integrated embedding of internationalisation in its strategic policy. This is considered important because of international, national and regional developments. The main motives are: - increasing internationalisation of the labour market and professional practice; - advancing integration within the EU; - the international (European) and multicultural dimension of Rotterdam and its ambitions to be a strong, internationally competitive city. Based on the international policy, HR has set the following international objectives: 1. Training students who are familiar with the international aspects of professional profiles and professional practice, and who are capable of functioning in an international (European) and intercultural professional practice. 2. Enforcing the university’s competitive position both in the Netherlands and abroad by offering up-to-date, innovative study programmes using the available opportunities and attractive to regional, national and International students. 3. Participation in international (European) projects fitting in with the strategic spearheads of HR, used to present itself as an innovative knowledge institution. The Erasmus+ programme is an important tool for HR to reach the objectives stated above. The requested numbers for SMP-P, SMP-S and STA/STT were in line with the realized numbers, however the budget was not and therefore we had to use funding from OS for SMP.. The profiles of the students show no students with disabilities or difficult backgrounds, although the Erasmus+ programme is promoted through different channels to all students within HR, including through the student councellors who pay special attention to disabled students through the HR Powerplatform (a platform by and for students with a disability). The ration female / male students is in favour of the females 60-40%, however this ratio is known from other mobility reports. The exchange programmes are enabled to grow due to the funding HR and its students and staff have received in the last few years. Students are stimulated to participate in the Erasmus+ programme because most exchanges run smoothly (partner institutions inform us well on the programmes and support), students receive a fair compensation during their stay and HR takes good care in a structured way when students participate in an exchange programme or traineeship abroad. The HR organisation has been able to organise the exchange programmes and the international placements well due to Erasmus+ funding but also due to the tools it received form the National Agency and the obligations it felt to comply with the ECHE it agreed with.
