Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Antonio Cavanilles school in Alicante is a state secondary school with broad experience in vocational training for over 40 years. At present the school has an enrolment of more than 1500 students among whom there are 900 vocational training students. There are different levels of vocational training courses provided, from Basic Education vocational training programs to Higher Level vocational training cycles and the training is available in face-to-face, and blended/distance formats. The studies taught include three different industrial professional groups: - Electrics and Electronics - Mechanical Manufacturing - Installation and Maintenance The training programs offered include 3 Basic Education vocational training degrees, 4 Medium Level vocational training degrees and 6 Higher Level vocational training degrees. Most teachers have stable jobs and great experience in the fields of vocational training teaching and internship in companies monitoring. Most professionals based in the province got their degrees at our school and we have a close relationship with them and their companies. We are also always willing to collaborate with the promotion and continuous training of the members of the professional associations in the area. Our school has participated in several international cooperation programmes such as Grundtvig, Leonardo, Comenius... The students who have participated in this project are in their second year of an Electrics and Electronics Higher Level training cycle and Installation and Maintenance Upper Lever training cycle. Specifically they are students in the fields: Higher Level vocational training cycles (CINE-5b-): Telecommunications Network Installations (woman, 26 years old, no previous experience in internship-abroad programs) Industrial Mechatronics (man, 20 years old, no previous experience in internshipabroad programs) Generally speaking, these degrees are related to the field of industrial productive sectors and the field of basic services installation and maintenance. Our students have completed abroad their Education on the Workplace module. This module is part of their degree and lasts a total of 400 hours. Once the internship program was designed, we shared it with the collaborating company and they approved it and selected the appropriate department in their company for our students. This has been a great opportunity for our students because they have got in touch with first rate and high quality productive technologies and with high level professionals. This has also been, undoubtedly, a valuable experience for our students for many reasons. On the personal level it has been a precious experience because being immersed in a different culture is a great way to develop a broader view of the world and on the professional level because it has been a contact with very modern working practices. We believe that the above implies better opportunities for our students in order to find a position in the Spanish job market. Besides, they can use the skills they have acquired to help the companies that hired them to get an international projection.
