Royal College of Music (KMH) has it´s roots since 1771 and is today Sweden´s only independent university college within the field of music; educating students in folk music, jazz, pop and rock music, classical music, conducting, composition, music and media production, and in various teacher training programs in music. KMH taken part of the transnational collaboration since 1996 within Socrates programme, Socrates II and Lifelong Learning Program. In that way has KMH etablished long term relationsships with the other European higher education institutions within field of music and music education, which continues to do so today. Erasmus+ project 2014-2016 at KMH has been driven by KMH´s own vision:" KMH shall be leading international centre for the education of musicians and music teachers of the highest quality." The vision is divided to 15 strategic goals and 1 of those is about the internationalization:" KMH shall primarily collaborate with internationally leading educational institutions that are comparable to KMH." The project´s aim: to provide all students and staff at KMH opportunity to study, teach and train in different international settings in order to boost individual competences and skills in order to enhance higher education in music in Europe, should be viewed in the context of KMH´s strategy for internationalization. Totally 30 students, 21 teachers and 3 staff from KMH have taken part of the mobility activities as studies, teaching assigments and staff training between Programme Countries during the programme period 2014-2016. From a gender point of view 18 female and 12 male students and 6 female and 18 male staff have been involved in the projekt, which means that KMH have to encourage and attract more women to get involved to the future teaching and training activities. The project in large have had positive impact on the organization and the participants; it has contributed to the internationalization and modernization of the music education at KMH and raised awareness about the internationational perspectives and improved cultural knowledge among the participants. Number of the participants and outcomes of the project has exceeded the expectations, even new inventions and experiences have been made in the meantime. Erasmus+ project 2014-2016 will have long-term impact on the education of musicians and music education in terms of quality and innovation. KMH have still make more efforts in close contact with the ECHE, KMH`s international strategy and action plan to achieve a greater success and attract a higher number of participants to next coming Erasmus+ projects.
